Most people post teasers or little projects that make up the big one, but not me! I’m giving you the WHOLE reveal all at once. I’m talking about my favorite project to date and my best before / after photos. Are you ready for this?
In early 2017, my husband and I purchased our first home. It was a bit dated… but perfect for us to get in and renovate. We started a massive renovation later that year that completely changed the house. I don’t think there was an area that was untouched. We knocked out walls, built walls, painted, shiplapped, added custom features, new flooring, lights, all the things! It was a blast! Especially with a 6 month old growing baby boy.
So let’s stop talking and let’s just see it!
This is where we started. The home was built in the 60s and had one owner, so most of the appliances and design was original to the house.
Here’s what we did for this transformation.
- Removed all upper cabinets on right side.
- Added shiplap to the ceiling
- 2 Pendant lights over the peninsula
- Closed in the door to the front living room
- Reworked the cabinets & removed the tower with oven
- Knocked out half the wall to open the space between the kitchen and living room
- All new appliances + added a vent hood
- Painted the cabinets & walls (This is a project I will absolutely talk more about another time. It was quite the learning experience!)
- New Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring throughout
- All new electrical for outlets & switches
- New Quartz countertops with overhang
- Added open shelving
There were a ton of projects that went into the kitchen transformation. It took a long time to finish this project, but once it was done, it was amazing! We loved this kitchen. Sadly, it is no longer ours, but we were happy to breathe life back into this house.
